Is anyone else having some trouble with Firefox? It works great until a certain point, then it'll freeze, work, freeze, work, freeze, etc. until you have to restart. Then it'll do the same thing over.
That happened on my lap top and now its doing the same thing on my desktop.

I am hearing about and experiencing many similar issues with IceWeasel (Firefox 2.0.0.2 Debian, rebranded, minimal other changes).

i have problems every once in a while - usually caused by the same sites, or when lots of javascript is going on. you can always turn javascript off, or get the firefox extension called "noScript"

Possibly you have it installed more then once? your problem sounds like a common problem someone might run into if they install an application more then one time.

Yeah, it started fucking up on my laptop so I removed it via Uninstall and reinstalled it...3 times.
As for my desktop, I only installed it once and installed the updates as they were made available.
[EDIT]I'll try the noscript extension. Any other remedies/ideas?

I am pretty sure it is a core code issue, since it appears to be affecting versions of firefox across multiple operating systems. Installing firefox more than one time shouldn't cause that big of a deal, as long as you are using the most recently installed executable.

Don't tell the FF development group this. They'll just say it's a problem in your local machine because it works for them. They're getting as bad as Microsoft. Well, maybe not that bad...

I've noticed this as well... there seems to be a memory leak associated with java applets... If I leave something like Yahoo Mail (beta) open in a tab for a long time, the system starts to act up. If I restart firefox, it goes away, for a while. (Make certain firefox actually dies in the task manager on windows; I have seen it hang around pretending to be gone...)

So far, the only remedy I can think of is getting all my music to CD-Rs. I noticed that it happened once I downloaded TONS of stuff on it. *shrugs*

the only time i ever have problems with it, is when i get automatic updates to windows, or one of my norton's products.
After a restart, it works fine. I just always figured that i should have been forced to restart, but it gave me an option.

I've been using it for several months- I like some of the features but I'm reluctantly going back to Internet Explorer. Too many problems.
About 1/4 of the time for some reason when I type an apostrophe it opens a find bar at the bottom of my screen which makes it impossible to continue typing. Also when I highlight text to copy & paste about half the time when I go to paste I find it didn't copy so I have to go back and try again to copy, sometimes having to reload a webpage I had closed and search for the text which is very annoying. There are a couple other problems but those are the most irritating.

When I minimize the Firefox browser, it disappears from my taskbar. IS this happening to anyone else?

One thing IE does better than FF is that IE allows you to set it so that each instance runs in its own process space. If one instance gets hosed, you can kill it without losing a dozen other webs you have open at the time. It hogs memory, but at least only one session dies when something gets hosed.
It REALLY sucks every time I'm researching something and lose all the yummy links I have open and have to look for them all over again.
I've suggested this to the development team and all I get back is a runaround. Apparently, the architecture is such that you can't make it run in independent processes, not even if you install it multiple times to different directories.

Yeah, but it doesn't work as often as it does. And the window positions change. And anything I was in the middle of typing gets lost.

I'm having some trouble with it today, it's not loading php files.
It's trying to open them with Bluefish, which leads me to think it's just an issue outside of Firefox.
