I'm doing a little contamination experiment of my own. I had 4 new cakes that were showing signs of contamination before being birthed. Usually I would have thrown them outside and checked on them next Spring, but this time I decided to see what would happen if I tried to grow them. I took them out of their jars with my unsanitized hands and threw them into a dirty 1 gallon bucket. I put a lid on it and shook them up for a while, breaking them up. Then I put a 50/50 casing mixture on top of the mess and sprayed it down with a H20/H2O2 mix and covered it all back up. That was 3 days ago, and I've been opening it up every day for gas exchange. We'll see what happens!

the test was COMPLETLY colonized by what appeared to be cobweb mold, with a ring of blue-green mold .. nasty.. well, that certainly seals it.. pressure cooking is a MUST.. (the test was not pressure cooked)
