time period for fresh picked mushrooms to sit in still air before rotting?

So I wasn't home for 12 hours and then went to bed yesterday.
I woke up today and realized I left my fan thats drying my mushrooms unplugged for a good 24 hours
I set the fan back up on the shrooms right after I realized this
will they be ok and will it affect potency?

nah, they'll be fine. 12 hours isn't really all that long.

24, yeah. as long as your giving them fresh air now, it's all good. some people have gone longer without any problems.

I'm sure the time limit depends on how dry your location's natural RH is - fresh air exchange is probably the variable. Either way, 24 hours is no big deal... Gotta show :mushroom2: em :mushroom2: more love than that though! :wink:

my friend dries shrooms by leaving them on a napkin on his desk. they never rot, just slowly dry.

I just let mine sit under a lamp, they dry completely in a day or two. never had any problems.

I once had someone drop by unannounced and put a whole tray of mushrooms up on a shelf in my closet,I forgot about them completely and when I found them they were cracker dry,this wont happen if you live in a swamp and they will rot for sure but as long as they didn't rot they will be fine no matter how long you leave them

also im prone to worry...Im sure this is fine but I sprayed some lysol in the same room where im fanning my shrooms, this wont do anything will it?

Dono how true this is but I found it on the wiki:

Seems kind of counterintuitive since you use lysol to clean cooking surfaces and cutting boards and what not.

I am not a fan of Lysol in general(I love the smell of the liquid but I hate the spray)In general its just one of those things that is way overused much like peroxide,I wouldn't want to spray it on anything I was going to eat,more because I'm sure it tastes terrible than due to any health concerns as I bet it would take a fair amount to make me ill.

I air dry my mushies on a wire rack with no fan it takes about 2-3 days

I know this is an old thread but I figured I would ask here. I had some fresh fungus sitting in racks underneath a ceiling fan for 3.5 days. Then they were placed in the dehydrator. Should I look out for a considerable loss in potency in the dried shrooms because they were left wet for so long???? thanks ahead of time for any input fellows.

BTW at the time I put them in the dehydrator they were still pretty wet. They had shriveled up a little bit but some of the bigger ones were still damp. So even being soaked basically, is 3.5 days ok?
