Six charged in Quebec cocaine bust

Six people have been arrested and the Surete du Quebec has seized cocaine, cash and three firearms after shutting down a suspected cocaine trafficking ring last week.

Police arrested the six people after executing searches at five different locations in and around the St. Andr Avellin area Friday following the three-month undercover drug operation dubbed operation Charpie.

According to police, 42 grams of cocaine along with $1,500 in cash and three long guns were seized during the raids.

The suspected ringleader, 39-year-old Alain Parent, remains in custody after being charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

Three other men, aged 44, 47, and 50, have been charged with drug possession and released on a promise to appear in court. Two women were interviewed and released without charges.

Police said more charges are expected.

Wow such a huge bust they act like. I have smoked 2 onces of crack cociane over a three day period with 2 other people. 42 grams is far from a "suspected cocaine trafficking ring". It's just a couple of people trying to make a little money.
