American Biotech Reform
    #670816 - 06/10/02 12:38 AM (15 years, 1 month ago)

I don't know if we have a law passed or not about this issue, but we definitely need FDA reform in regards to having all food labeled organic, or biotech, this is important to "smart" consumers, and noone yet lables their food biotech, but if you are smart then you may be able to tell which food is organic. Nowadays, people don't even know that Taco Bell serves biotech corn grown in Mexico, U.S.

Just what we need. Another law for something useless.

Do you want to know which foods are bio-engineered? Just look for the varieties that stay fresh longer, arrive in the store ripe instead of green, require reduced or no pesticides, fungicides and fertilizers and are cheaper and more abundant.

what's wrong with bio-engineered food? Is it bad for you? I'm a little ignorant on the issue of bio-engineered food, however i do have common sense and if it's not bad for you who cares.

Nothing, except nugsarenice is afraid of it and they don't have it in China (yet).

Is it bad for you?

Nope.

It's not bad for you at all, however it poses a threat to the natural progression of the specific crop. Sine in Nature, the strongest "strand" survives. If you artificially make a super-strand and that's the only one you make, you are basically putting all your eggs in one basket. If a disease comes and wipes out the crop for that year, it could be disastrous for many.

I don't see an end to natural food crops. In my area there are so many people that have crops for hobbies and an abundant supply if that were ever to happen. From what i have read i would have to say that i am pro-bioengineered food until i see a valid reason to feel the opposit. Maybe some of nugsarenices' potent wisdom will change my mind...or perhaps others may sway me...but i doubt it.

I personally have no problem with Bio Engineered crops either, as long as they don't rely on that exclusively.
