Cutting Cakes in Half

Is this okay to do? I ripped a cake in half once and had pretty good luck with it.

It made the cake less likely to tip over when moving the terrarium and it make it like a second cake.

Do you guys do this at all? Is it better to rip in half or cut with a knife?

Also if I cut in half, should i put the side i cut down?

If you do cut your cakes in half, I would put verm on the cut side to help with no contams and also to add moisture to cakes. Otherwise dunk them or something.

How was the yeild when you did this? Were the shrooms average size or smaller?
Was it a bigger yeild with both of the sides.....or did it equal to about having 1 bigger cake?
Curious.......
And maybe you'd want to case if you do that anyway.

ha ha i dont know, it was the 1st time my shrooms worked for me and i just cut one cake in half. it seemed to make the shrooms grow out of the base of the cake, almost right next to the cake at the bottom

maybe more exposed surface area would create a higher yield ( ex. more mycellium exposed to light, more pins). it seems as if it would be beneficial.
