How did you go about incubating after spawning? I'm interested in this setup but space is limited so likely there would be buckets in various phases in the same room so heating the entire room to 85 wouldn't be good.

I am pretty relaxed about temp lately as its been summer here and temps are nice and warm in the house anyway - I just throw the buckets in a dark cupboard until they're colonised. I then just take them out of the cupboard and in the same room fruit them.
Temps dont need to be exact IME - obviously if they are ideal you get ideal growing conditions, but a little variation (like the cooler night time temps) doesnt hurt anything other than slowing things down a bit.

The substrate layer was about 3 inches deep, and the casing layer quite thin - not measured, just eyeballed around about 1/2 - 2/3 inch deep.

The shower cap acts like a "lung" where by pulling it up or pushing it down you can suck in or expel air through the micropore covered holes, therefore an easy way to fan your buckets if you feel the need to, and the air is also filtered.

Nice pics mate! Good to see you finally posting about your ingeneous bucket tek.
After seeing your success with the buckets last year, I finally decided to give it a go. I got the 80c buckets from bunnings, the $2 4-pack shower caps from coles and $1.80 micropore tape. My first trial bucket is just starting to pin, so hoping for a nice flush.

The conditions inside there are just right. The little buggers are even growing off the sides of the bucket.
So cheap, so easy, so prolific. Have to give you 5 shrooms for the bucket o'fungus otto-tek.

Unreal man! Looks great, only thing you may have a problem with is side pinning - the plastic lets through a lot of light.
Buy some black tape from bunnings (about $2 a roll) - and wrap that around the bottom to above the line of your substrate before you start next time.
What did you use for a substrate and casing layer?
Make sure you put up a pic when its complete - looking great so far...!

Yeah there's a bit of side pinning in there. Will tape up the sides next time for sure.
Used Nitrogen enhanced coir as substrate and verm/peat for the casing. Think I might make a visit to Ascot for h-poo tomorrow though for the next batch
