Hey everyone - these are from Z strain multispore, fruiting in the ole' monobucket that's rocking my socks lately.
WBS spawned in the bucket to straw/poo/coir mix, cased with peat/verm/coir -

Total from one bucket -

Dried to 47.2g.

Shower caps!? ya crafty bastard! If that is what those 4 buckets produced then they can be very beneficial for those with limited space.
Also what is the exact height on those buckets?

I used a shower cap - I found a packet of 4 caps for a $1....
I do have a fan in the same room as the bucket/s, blowing kind of over the top of the bucket/s. The fan comes on for 30 mins 6 times a day (on a timer).
Other than that, the very occasional misting - if the surface looked a little dry, but only did that around 4 times in total.
Doesnt get much easier/cheaper than that!
Thanks for the compliments guys!

I do plan on it - just very busy at the moment... (and a tad lasy)
Its really a great way for the beginner cultivator to go semi bulk, very very very cheaply and hassle free.
Ok, heres some more pics - these are 4 buckets of PE6 (clone) -
And only four buckets yeilded this -

Which dried to just over 6 oz. Crazy...

Here's some pics of the buckets with the shower cap on -
When your substrate is colonising and the casing pinning, you can leave the cap closer to the substrate to increase humidity a bit -

When your fruits are maturing you can pull it up to suck in some fresh air and give them room to mature -

The shower cap acts like a "lung" where by pulling it up or pushing it down you can suck in or expel air through the micropore covered holes, therefore an easy way to fan your buckets if you feel the need to, and the air is also filtered.
Although if you have an electric fan in the room pointing roughly in the direction of the buckets you dont need to do this.

DNKYD said: How did you go about incubating after spawning? I'm interested in this setup but space is limited so likely there would be buckets in various phases in the same room so heating the entire room to 85 wouldn't be good.
I am pretty relaxed about temp lately as its been summer here and temps are nice and warm in the house anyway - I just throw the buckets in a dark cupboard until they're colonised. I then just take them out of the cupboard and in the same room fruit them.
Temps dont need to be exact IME - obviously if they are ideal you get ideal growing conditions, but a little variation (like the cooler night time temps) doesnt hurt anything other than slowing things down a bit.

The substrate layer was about 3 inches deep, and the casing layer quite thin - not measured, just eyeballed around about 1/2 - 2/3 inch deep.

Okay, so I thought I'd add a few photos. Here's a series taken almost 24hours apart for the last few days. Question is, I'm going away in less than 24 hours for almost 50 hours. Should I harvest the largest mushrooms or just wait until I return home?

The second flush has been harvested, one was a little more advanced than the rest and he was picked last night.
Here's the pictures:

Contams aren't a major issue when the substrate is fully colonised anyway, BUT, its even less of an issue when the holes are covered - and this stops the fungus gnats setting in.... Since moving to buckets I have never had a problem with gnats.
In cased you missed it, here is a pic from an uncased bucket of PE6 (clone) -

im thinking a semi bulk grow with a cool mist connected to one bucket then tubes connecting the rest of the buckets to that one (spider or daisy chain style), keeping them in a closet then having the cool mist in the room, which will be the room i use as my indoor garden, so itll be a relatively high oxygen environment
(this wont be done for a while, as i gotta move out of my parents house first)
if the pans work out in this setup i might do a couple buckets of pan cyans

ZA: isn't the whole idea of using buckets to avoid any extraneous items?
Buckets need only little attention to be very successful. They basically need no humidification compared to a traditional fruiting chamber.
If you're going to setup such an elaborate system, a humidified tent would probably be a better and more productive setup.

this wouldnt require very much, just some tubing
this system is much more modular and would be easier to handle for me than a bulk tub grow, and the added air flow from the humidifier would allow me to have less maintenance
however i have a lot of ridiculous and convoluted plans, this might be one of them, ill prolly do pf for a while before doing any sort of bulk... however the bucket does have its allure to a first time grower

I agree with boarders - adding a humidifier to such a small container may not be very effective. Once a bucket is set up - you don't need to maintain it, other than possible an occasional mist from a hand sprayer. You must however, like a monotub, have a fan in the room with your buckets.
I used to have a fan pointed directly at my buckets - on a timer, it comes on for 15 minutes, 6 times a day. Worked a treat.

They are 10L buckets so around about 30-40 cms tall - but the shower caps are quite loose fitting so the shrooms have room to push up against the cap and keep growing if they have to (which they often do).
