Casing question

I'm doing a casing in a glass container which i thought was opaque but appearantly isn't. So mushrooms are going underneath and on the sides. I was just wondering, how do i pick them without harming the casing or if i don't, will they rot and do any damage?

put 2 or 3 layers of duct tape on the sides/bottom of the container to keep out the light.
pick them carefully with an exacto knife; utility blade and/or tweezers; i dont think they will rot but i dunno; when that happens i always pick them. it does disturb tghe outside of your casing to get at them; especially if theyve gotten big but its not that bad. just pull them out and the myc will recover like it always does
