Do these work???
    #669338 - 06/08/02 09:51 PM (21 years, 9 months ago)

Would thouse pans with the humidity domes w3rk for fruiting? What I mean is if I used them to spawned a cake into sum cow manure and straw then covered with a 1" layer of coco coir, then place humidity dome on. Would this eliminate the need to have a humidifier, and would I still have to fan? Or could I just poke sum holes around the base and top of dome for air exchange?

I'm not sure what kind of tray/humidity dome you are talking about but this is the kind I use-

Sorry About the crappy pic but gotta work with what I got. I put 2 1/2 pint tall jars in to give a size perspective

This one has perlite on the bottom for humidifying it for cakes but I have made casings in them before. They're great. They hold 10-12 cakes no problem and only cost about $6 canadian.

When I have casings in them I use the lid to fan them and periodically mist the inside of the lid with 10% H2O2/H20 and they work fine. Just fanning them 2-3 times a day seems to be plenty but I think putting holes around the bottom would just make them lose humidity and open you up for contams.
