Greenhouse humidity question
    #6690569 - 03/20/07 05:30 AM (17 years, 1 month ago)

I have a greenhouse with a vicks cool mist in bottom shelf, its running 15on/30off but my casings seem to be getting wet. I was wondering what I should do so my casing don't get wet, I cut a few slits for FAE and the bottom isn't closed cause I have it set in my shower. Thx.

you can lengthen the time that you have it off for.
for example 15 on 60 off.
as long as your RH stays steady you can shut it off until the trays have a chance to dry out a bit.
Remember you want your casing to still be fluffly.
Increase your FAE.
I had that problem also.
you will just have to play with it until you get the proper timing to where your trays are not holding water.
If you have water standing in your trays you can take a paper towel and lightly pat the tray to get the extra water up.
Also you can unzip your GH to let some of the extra moisture escape.

Thx, actually I just messed around with the timer and the must have screwed it up somehow cause it says pins down for off and pins up for on, and its reverse so the cool mist was on 30/off 15. Still though, a few casings are soaked. I drained them all, and will try what u said.

I have pins on one of my trays, would the paper towels be a problem there?

In the case of the ones with pins don't put any pressure on the paper towel, let the paper towel pick it up and try not to touch the pins and they should be fine

15 minutes is too long to allow the cool mist to run. They throw too much moisture to be absorbed by the air in that amount of time. Get a cycle timer and run it 1 minute on, two to five minutes off and you'll be able to get the high humidity you want without drips everywhere. In the meantime, lay wax paper over the top of your trays to catch the drips, then just drain it a few times per day.

I was looking for one, but I couldn't find any store that sold them. I'm guessing I'll probably have to buy one online?
