fruiting chamber question

i went to homedepot today to get perlite and they wont have any for 3 days. need to put my shitakes in the fc tonight. cant i just use standing water in my pmp? if i can im pretty sure i need bleach. if so how much do i add?

use hydrogen peroxide. i usually go overboard and use a 1:10 mixture

i have one large bottle thats about 80% full. ill use it all. should i add anything else? alcohol? bleach? i cant afford for anything to contam lol.

Standing water won't do shit but invite bad guys to hang out. Water evaporates off standing water very slowly compared to water spread out over a wide surface area (wet perlite/rocks, but not submerged). Either mist the walls of your tub or find a bunch of small, rough rocks to lay and wet (ie smash a concrete block into bits).

i think i read someplace one of the mods said you could use a bubbler inside a jar/glass of water. i just need to rig some kinda fc together soon without perlite.

Never put standing water in a fruiting chamber. If you don't have perlite, use several layers of damp paper towels. Not soaking wet, just damp. Replace them every two days.

You can find perlite at any gardening store, lowes, home depot, walmart, kmart, etc. There's no need to rush it. Worst case scenario, it's better to let them over incubate than to fruit in a poorly designed chamber.

Out of curiosity, what kind of woods did you use?
