I don't know. What's the deal with that again? I know that's the main DRM issue, but I don't get why. I can't play legitimate HD DVD's ?

I haven't run into any of these "drm issues"
I disabled the UAC thing, though
Why is this OS getting trashed, it seems pretty solid to me
It fucking sucked. I had Vista on this computer a solid two days before I formatted and installed linux. Ripped off the stupid Vista sticker, for good measure. Fuck Vista, it's a pile of shit and they spent a lot of time and talked a lot of trash. The only thing to really say about Vista is that windows is no longer an eyesore and at least it doesn't seem to completely crash - it just crashes pieces a lot and uses a ton of resources for all its flashy pretty effects and shit. It's not that special and linux is better. OSX runs UNIX because POSIX is the way to go. Windows is dying, that is why Microsoft is moving with the .Net thing.

I disagree. Linux is finally maturing to the point where it is becoming easy to use for 'non-geeks'. Since the Vista garbage has been released, I have had a lot of 'common' people asking about Linux. This is up from ZERO people asking about Linux before the Vista garbage was released.
I fully agree with this statement and it matches my own experience. People have been asking about this "unix and linux thing" a lot more now.

The gaming market, along with DX-10, are the vehicles MS is using at the software level and the "vista compatible" stamp of approval at the hardware level.
Thankfully, there are people in the gaming market committed to portable games enjoyable for everyone using openGL over DX, and eventually, the hardware vendors will pull their heads out of their asses and stop going along with MS so blindly.

I think the new interface is pretty ugly..the start button being taller than the taskbar, the icons on the taskbar being really fucking glossy, random looking gizmos..
I run XP and it gets the job done. Sad thing about Microsoft is that if they want to make a good platform they really need to start all over - they just keep pushing Windows further and further and it's definitely outlived it's time. It has so many problems that date back to conception and they just keep writing hacks to avoid bugs and bugs to avoid hacks.

I completely agree with Seuss, I'm posting from my new linux box. Care to wonder why I switched to linux? Because Vista sucks, and all in all it was easier to install and I've had no problems yet.
Thumbs up to linux and specifically to Xandros, easiest distro eva.
