Stagnant substrate conditions
    #668643 - 06/08/02 08:51 AM (21 years, 9 months ago)

I have laid plexy glass over my straw substrate to compact it since I don't like cutting it up. Will the air under my substrate becom stagnate and contam?

But will not having holes in the piece of plastic hurt? What are the holes there for anyway?

most probably yes, the substrate must breath, that's why you have to poke holes in the plastic wrap.

Yes, you need the plastic to be perforated. Sealed straw usually falls to bacteria, but can fall to many other things. Shroomgod and others have made the perforation pretty clear I thought. Even to the point of recomending the plastic grate to make sure that any weights used to compact the straw don't block the perforations in the plastic.

PM me with any cultivation questions.

I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
