filter usage (just to make sure)

For some reason I have a feeling that I'll have someone tell me that it's a dumb question...

BUT ANYWAYS...

I'm planning on using filters with those snap lid wide mouth mason jars. I would like to know if I can just use the filter with the screw ring. Or do I have to use it with the complete lid?

Just use the filter and the ring.

Put the filter on the jar and then close the lid down on top of it. Micron Magick suggests using two filters so you can innoculate through one and plce another over it. Just be careful it doesn't get wet in the PC...use tin foil.
