Salvia Divinorum.... Coming to an end...
    #6681651 - 03/17/07 09:02 PM (17 years, 6 days ago)

Yes, people in Canada it will be illegal when Belmont Mild cigarettes come off the shelves. In the USA it is supposidly responsible for the death of a teenager who killed himself after writing notes on his experience on the drug. Strange, quite... I will miss lady salvia so much, she taught me a lot of valuable lessons and took me on adventures! Lady salvia, I salute you!:(

they are afraid that there is more to reality than they have ever confronted.
That there are doors that they're afraid to go in and they don't want us to go
in there either because if we go in, there we might learn something that they

Growing Alarm Over Hallucinogenic Herb

Alison Grande
KIRO 7 Eyewitness News

POSTED: 5:07 pm PST February 22, 2007

UPDATED: 6:03 pm PST February 22, 2007

There's growing alarm about an herb that teenagers are trying.

The herb makes them hallucinate. It's been compared to acid and LSD, but it's legal here in Washington State.

Eastside Bureau Chief Alison Grande has the warning for teenagers and their parents.

It's called Salvia. It's being marketed to teenagers, and how they're using it has the feds investigating.

Teens who used it told us they're surprised it's so easy to get.

“It's this thing you smoke. It will make you hallucinate,” said one teenager.

“You have to ask people, like, ‘What did I do?’ because you don't remember. I don't remember at least.”

Salvia Divinorum is an herb in the mint family.

We asked around outside an Eastside high school, and in minutes found users of this drug.

“It's not my thing because I don't like not having any control over myself and not be able to stop laughing or falling over,” said one teen.

Once used for spiritual ceremonies in Mexico, it's legal. The use of Salvia is on the rise and that has the Drug Enforcement Administration worried.

“Just because it's legal, just because it's not classified, just because it's not a controlled substance doesn't mean that it's healthy and safe,” said Rodney Benson of the DEA.

It's being blamed for the death of 17-year-old Brett Chidester in Delaware. The teen killed himself after using salvia. The note he left behind talked about his experiences while taking the drug.

Delaware created "Brett's Law," banning salvia. At least 13 other states are also cracking down on it. Washington is not one of them.

Teens we talked to said it was easy to find here -- on the Internet and at smoke shops.

Using a hidden camera, we went looking for salvia. In a matter of minutes, a clerk at a smoke shop handed over a vial.

Down the street, we asked for salvia. We found it was always kept behind the counter.

We paid more than 20 dollars for a container.

And it's not just smoke shops. Nutrition shops carry it, too.

This clerk told us to be careful not to use too much, and showed us a handout about the hallucinogenic effects. We paid more than $70 for liquid salvia.

“It does in some instances create some violent behavior and some hallucinations that could cause harm to our kids,” Benson said.

When we showed Special Agent Benson a container, he thought it was frightening. The packaging, the marketing -- obviously for young adults.

Salvia could become a controlled substance soon.

“Right now there's medical scientific professionals that are reviewing salvia for placement as a controlled substance,” Benson said.

But for now, the DEA is counting on parents to patrol their teens, and to talk to them about the risks and hope teens stop being guinea pigs.

A 15-year-old who used salvia thinks parent should know about it.

“It's just going to keep getting out of hand,” the teen said.

In most cases, salvia is labeled as incense, but young adults are smoking it instead.

Just like all other drugs salvia will still be available via a black market. Don't sweat it.

Rofl. It just goes to show how ignorant and injust these motherfuckers are.

Fuck Brett and fuck his law. He obviously had problems. You can't attribute his death to salvia. Thats like saying Hitler killed himself because just before he died, he ate pasta with a light red sauce. Hitler had problems. The pasta didn't have anything to do with it.

The DEA is wrong to outlaw salvia just because of isolated cases of people becoming scared and killing themselves. They weren't prepared. Thats like making a 10 year old drive a car in the fast lane of the fucking NJ turnpike.

I'm pissed...

I agree with you Sebastian23, just because 1 kid got too fucked up and killed himself does not mean everyone will kill them selves. First of all to kill yourself and write a note of it u had to have had some thoughts about it b4 using the drug. Do you think the note was written while he was on it or not they dont say?

Read this link it has better info it tells you how he died
http://www.wusa9.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=47389

"But on Jan. 23 he set up a tent in his garage. And breathed in enough carbon monoxide to end it all. "

Thats how he died! how long would it take to breath in enough carbon monoxide to die?? salvia dosent last too long like 15 mins I think his trip might have been done if he had toked it b4 the gas and i somehow doubt that he toker it while breathing in the gas.

I think that longbottom_leaf hit the nail on the head.
How many of you out there are truly worried about where you are going to find your next bag of reefer?

Salvia has been legal, in the lime lite, available over the counter and heavily marketed to the group of people who are using it the most.

Those who have been legally selling it have made a killing off of it are going to continue to on the black market.

Its simple economics and the American Way. I want the product. Somebody WILL make it very easily accessible. It will be made available at the RIGHT price.

The infrastructure is already in place all ready to go from legal marketing to black marketing.
So What? So fucking what? A KIRO7 News story is indeed bad publicity, however it means nothing.

The law makers and law enforcers now know that making Sally illegal will just fall in line with all the other drug war failures.
They will spend a million or more on bullshit legislation outlawing it. another couple million on educating Johnny Law, and then a year or two of cracking down on suppliers followed by the realization that so many people want it that its impossible to plug up the supply.

I should also add that once it becomes illegal the Mexicans will take over control of trafficking it, just like with Coke-Caine in the late 90s and Meth in the 2000s.
Sally comes from Mexico right? Well the Mexicans have their shit A J Squared away when it comes to the black market business.
Sorry folks, long winded I know. So Fucking What?

Respect,

IHS

does anyone agree how pathetic it is that these people in power are banning these substances from us as part of the war on drugs and yet as many people have just said, even if it does become illegal it will still be easy enough to get on the black market. its like they make these rules pass and these laws but just turn their head at the consequences of them. what is the point of making it illegal if its just doing to support the black market. if u want it you will get it. so many better things could be done on this issue... i.e. tax money and the fact that if some of these substances were legal people wouldnt be flooding our jails because of nonviolent offenses like drug possession or low scale distrubuting

Keeping drugs illegal helps support a trillion dollar industry. That industry is interdiction, enforcement, justice, and rehabilitation. That industry provides millions of jobs. Its an infrastructure that is inter-twined with big business. Lawyers, judges, prison and medical institutions, doctors, pharmaceutical manufacturers, shrinks, and social workers, and insurance companies. Its a house of cards in a sense. Legalize the goodies and most of them are out of a job.

Who cares, build a new house with a real foundation.  We had slavery at one point.  Farming was built around it.  When it was outlawed we learned new ways to farm didn't we? Innovation. People are still stupid and will do stupid shit on legal drugs (ALCOHOL ANYONE?) so these jobs wont dry up overnight.  Propaganda bullshit is all I hear.

Talk about raising the dead!!!! I posted that 2 years and 1 month ago!!

By the way, I didnt say I supported keeping anything illegal. I am pro legalization of weed and I am for keeping Salvia legal in my state. I was just stating the facts about the ecconomics of keeping drugs illegal

and , while we are on the topic.. . .  .  .  . .    .  .  .  .

I got news for ya. Leftist, Barrak Hussain Obama's push for bigger government and social services isnt going to get us any closer to legalization. Keeping drugs illegal means more jobs.

You dont think we would legalize it and then employ all the unemployed people by putting them in the fields picking buds do ya? LOL

Do you guys honestly think it will be that easy to get on the black market? I think a lot of its popularity now is due to ease of access; most people find the effects quite unpleasant, and the people who take frequently are more the psychonaut/urban shaman crowd. Point and case being DMT. I bet lots of people find salvia far less enjoyable than DMT, but how easy is it to find DMT on the black market?

Salvia's not dead yet. Maine, California and Texas passed laws to limit the ages salvia can be sold to and not ban it entirely.

The acne medicine that you speak of is called Acutane... It's bad stuff, has killed many teenagers do to depression (can also cause liver damage). I knew it was only a matter of time until it was made illegal (I was just telling this to my girlfriend last week)

but yet they keep the accutane legal but "controlled"...lol this world is a fuckin cluter fuck, lol. Acne should be healed through a holistic approach not by putting more FULL synthetic chemicals in the Body.
