Has anybody considered using beer?

I figured if sterilyzed properly, it could be mighty nutritional for the substrate cakes. Just looking in to some options for my next batch. Also, I buried a crumbled cake in the back yard for giggles after it had completely covered, has anyone else done anything like this. It would be pretty cool to have a batch "naturally" growing in the back yard.

That would prolly work ok never tried it though but i know sum folks who have used beer successfully as culturing media ingredient .
