lions mane - when is it ready to fruit?

Hi.


Was just wondering when sawdust substrates are ready to fruit? this lions mane block was inoculated 2 months ago.

kinda looks undercolonized on the bottom to me. depending on the conditions that you colonize your substrate at it could take more or less time. what temp are you colonizing at?

in an incubator with the temp control set at 27oC.

That's what i was wondering, it's completely white at the top, the bottom is mottled, there's mycelium running through the sawdust but it's not totally thick and covered like the top half.

It was ready a month ago. That's just what hericium looks like. You can cut the top of the bag off and put in a fruiting chamber, or simply cut a few slits in the top of the bag and use it for a mini fruiting chamber. Either way, it's ready. Past ready.

can't give you exact quantities.  oak sawdust, woodchips and wheat bran, with a bit of gypsum.  i'll post some piccies when they come up, also got some yellow oysters hopefully pinning can post some piccies.  It's great when they fruit. :laugh:
