Dying Woman Loses Marijuana Appeal By DAVID KRAVETS, Associated Press Writer
SAN FRANCISCO - A California woman whose doctor says marijuana is the only medicine keeping her alive is not immune from federal prosecution on drug charges, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.
The case was brought by Angel Raich, an Oakland mother of two who suffers from scoliosis, a brain tumor, chronic nausea and other ailments. On her doctor's advice, she eats or smokes marijuana every couple of hours to ease her pain and bolster a nonexistent appetite as conventional drugs did not work.
The Supreme Court ruled against Raich two years ago, saying that medical marijuana users and their suppliers could be prosecuted for breaching federal drug laws even if they lived in a state such as California where medical pot is legal.
Because of that ruling, the issue before the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was narrowed to the so-called right to life theory: that marijuana should be allowed if it is the only viable option to keep a patient alive.
Raich, 41, began sobbing when she was told of the decision and said she would continue using the drug.
"I'm sure not going to let them kill me," she said. "Oh my God."

Anyone catch this? Why even make medical marijuana legal if they can charge you with it? This government is headed to a Totalitarianism down a short creek in a speedboat! This government is fucked up.

and this my friends is why why had the civil war states rights vs the federal government. "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people." Thats the 10th ammendment. so basically unless the constitution states marijuana is illegal the federal goverernment has no say in the matter. But oh thats just the constitution and that doest count for shit any more.

Just another shining example of our fine government's all too successful war against, specifically, terminally ill cancer patients, and generally against the average citizen.
Isn't it so very curious how substances that provide effective treatment for people with cancer, such as marijuana are denied to them, while at the same time, tobacco - a substance that is a proven cancer-inducing substance is perfectly OK in the eyes of our lawmakers.
So let's see if we can figure out how things currently work: 1> A proven fatal-disease causing substance (tobacco) is openly permitted by law. 2> A proven treatment for a fatal disease (marijuana) is currently forbidden to the victims by law.
The folks in the government who are allowing this to happen had better pray that there is not a God, for abundantly obvious reasons.

Early this morning MSN.com had this on the front page and as of 11:00 it has mysteriously disappeared from their entire site...
I guess the fewer people that find out about this the better, right?

i cant belive they are actually using their time on a dying woman. usually around the world cops doesnt bother to start up with sick people., if you have aids and using heroin most cops wont bother, if you have MS and smokes marijuana most cops wont bother unless you are making a case out of it, like for political principals or whatever reasons. I would think this mentally doesnt only apply here in europe but in america as well. you are a real fuckin asshole if you bust a woman that is about to die for smoking weed. there is no getting around that , legalized or not.

This needs more coverage, I'd say this needs a worldwide campaign to really highlight the complete ignorance and total injustice here. If I knew how I'd start one, we need to start speaking up for ourselves and others, we need to start really taking action and taking back our rights. Motivational speech over. I mean really, what IzzyToxic said was totally right:
Quote:
1> A proven fatal-disease causing substance (tobacco) is openly permitted by law. 2> A proven treatment for a fatal disease (marijuana) is currently forbidden to the victims by law.
Anyone can see this is a sickening state of being, If I had the funds I'd start a campaign for her, failing that I'd happily assist any campaign going for her. Think about it, it's only a matter of time before you or someone you love needs this treatment and idiotic, unscientifically based laws prevent you/them from getting it. Thats the goverments big "Fuck You Joe Public" right there.

WHy arent they calling an emergency meeting of congress to save this womans life? They wanted to change the rules for terry shivos (whatever her name was) and her "right to life", why arent they gathering to change the laws for this woman?
I keep comming back to this thread, or seeing the article somewhere else, and everytime i just grind my teeth a bit in anger...and i am not an angry person, but this really really gets under my skin. They hypocrisy of our government.

Disgustingly enough, outside of the communist countries (China, N. Korea) and the Islamic political regimes (Iran), The US is most likely the country where the citizens have the least amount of personal freedom, as well as the least amount of power to do anything to change this, than any other country on the planet. This is why they try to drill into our heads from kindergarten on up through 12th grade what a "free" country the US is.
It's a well-documented fact that people in the US with fatal diseases are far more times than not forced to suffer in severe pain as the government bullies doctors to the point that they do not dare write the needed prescriptions for fear of losing their opportunity to practice medicine.

Well thats our government for you. Everyone needs to realize that it is huge drug companies that wont allow the legalization of marijuana. DOnt want to cut into corporate profits now. The FDA is a bunch of former drug company CEO's, Cant let the people have drugs that they can make themselves. Thats not capitalism.
