Whispy Mycelium In LC - Pics Added
    #6673351 - 03/15/07 05:32 PM (14 years, 8 months ago)

AFOAF made an LC using PF strain spores in Karo syrup about four days ago. There are lots and lots of very little white particles in it now, and when the LC is shaken around the particles have a sort of smokey type of look. I have only seen LC's made from cloning and the mycelium has never begun as such small particles. Is this a normal beginning for an LC from spores? And can my Foaf start using it now for inoculation? Thanks in advance for your feedback.
If you look closely you will hopefully see the whisps.

It should be ok but w/o a pic its hard to say. I'd wait a little longer before I go inoculating anything with it since its still primetime for it to be colonizing and you don't wanna suck out what growth you've got. I'd wait another week or so.

Yea I agree its hard to know without pics but its more than likely fine.If its only 4 days old a karo LC isn't going to have much, just put it in a drawer and forget about it for a while, when you go back it will be thicker and usable and if the liquid around the mycelium is cloudy don't inoculate anything with it unless you want to cultivate bacterial contamination

Yeah, its normal when its multispore. I love the way they look. Give em' some more time.

Here is a pic of a multispore LC from AGAR.

Yeah Agar is good, this board is loaded with badasses

That pic you have posted looks fine- let it grow.

Thanks Civ. Get well soon.I also like the way it looks. They have their own graceful way of floating in the liquid as if to say "I'm psychedlic." I'm getting impatient because my foaf had like four failed attempts. He even got to the point of casing his wbs spawned to coir and the mycelium made it to the top of the casing and then there was green mold on the sides...to the garbage. He would like to see success this time.
