Psychoactive Cacti

I just planted some peruvian torch seeds and I was thinking of getting some other kinds of psychoactive cacti. I was thinking of getting some sunami (ARIOCARPUS FISSURATUS) seeds. Does anyone have experience growing or using sunami? What are the affects like? I'm open to suggestions on what species of cacti to get. Any advice or information will be helpful.

just to let you know seeds take a very long time..
you can buy a pedro/or torch that is 15 inchs plus and chop the tip off and grow 1-4 new tips then chop those and get more and more
you can have 10 /// 12-15+ inch cacti in the time it takes yous seeds to get 10 inches.
cutting are the way to go. the only thing i grow from seed now is peyote because it gets grafted after a month or 2
but it is up to you

Apparently, the best and fastest method is to grow Peyote and Pachanoi, then graft the Peyote on top of the Pachanoi. Allegedly it makes the cactus grow as fast as Pachanoi (a lot faster than Peyote), but with about as much Mescaline in it as Peyote has. I'm going to be cultivating my own cacti soon enough. I'll let you know how this experiment goes once I do it. Good luck growing.

I agree with Royer; that's how I started my collection 5 years ago and now I have over a hundred tips( not potted plants but individual tips). A stump will grow 1-5 new pups; once they're at least 10" tall I cut and root those and their stumps will grow new pups. They multiply pretty fast (exponentially) this way.
However, no sense in not planting the seeds if you have them. I'm also curious about this "sunami" you speak of.
EllisD: grafted peyote aren't nearly as potent as hard grown cacti; they're essentially big balls of water. They grow 10x faster but size is not an indicator of alkaloid content.
-------------------- On storing pedro tea...
Brewmaster: Well, the mescaline will still be in there, but I'd be afraid of it conjealing and trying to escape after it grew in size from eating all the other shit in my fridge, and possibly my dogs if it got out.
Pithlit: sentient drugs, now that is an idea ...
OneMoreRobot: Idea? It's a fuckin' reality. You know Salvia? Nigga stole my TV.

Ariocarpus are very slow-growing like Lophophora, and some are also threatened. Although most cacti contain alkaloids of some kind, why would you want to sacrifice an Ariocarpus when you have the fast-growing Trichocereus species at your disposal?

Where do you guys suggest getting San Pedro? I looked at a few places and I don't think anyone had it. I saw something similar at Lowe's, but no one there knew what it was. No one anywhere knows what any of their cacti are.

Information found at Erowid SUNAMI: This plant, ARIOCARPUS FISSURATUS, has been used in folkoric medicine of Mexico and southwestern USA. It is believed to be more potent than peyote and is used in the same manner as that cactus or made into an intoxicating drink. Among some tribes it is known as Chaute (a generic term for Ariocarpus species), living rock, or dry whiskey. The latter name, however, is often used for peyote and other psychoactive cacti. There are two varieties of A. fissuratus: var. lloydii and var. fissuratus. Both have about the same phytochemical makeup. The plant contains mostly hordenine, less N-methyl-tyramine and some N-methyl-3,4-dimethoxy-B-phenethylamine. Two other species, A. kotschoubeyanus also known as Pata De Venado or Pezuna De Venado, and A. trigonus also contain these alkaloids.
That's why I was wondering if anyone has tried this particular cactus. It's compared to peyote, but doesn't have mescaline.

Thanks for the Internet advice. I'm trying to resist it though because I don't want to pay for shipping. I may have to give in though.
