Growing Mycellium in Syringe??

I think I read somewhere that it's possible to 'spawn' spores in an enriched water solution while the spores are in a syringe... Does this mean that mycelium will grow in the syringe? And if so, will the mycelium result in faster colonization of cakes (can it also resist peroxide at this point?)?

Anyone ever heard of this? If this is true, what kind of solution whould be used in the syringe?

It is possible... but very tedious because of the amount of syringes you will be dealing with.

It is better to start a liguid culture in a 1 pint jar using a tbl. of dry malt or dextrose in 1 cup (250 ml) of hot water. This will leave plenty of room for air and shaking space. PC for 15 min, or boil for 30. Let cool to room temp, then innoculate with approx. 1 cc from a spore syringe. Incubate at 85 degrees F. Shake the jar gently each day while it is colonizing.
Within 7 - 10 days you should have a nice fluffy ball of mycellium. If you want to add H202, now is the time. I have found it unnecessary, but 1 cc would be plenty. Give it an extra day to adjust to the H2O2 then you can suck up the culture into syringes using 14 gauge needle tips.
If you intend on storing the liquid culture syringes for more than a week or so, be sure to keep them in a cool place (eg. fridge), and be sure there are no air bubbles in the syringe. An air bubble can allow the mycellium to grow on the surface of the solution and can plug the syringe tip.
