the holes on the top of my jar, that i covered with tape, some of the holes seem to have some rust around them, and even worse, some of the myc seems to have some rust coloring on it too, its verry slight, but its there, but hasnt made them colonize any slower, its actualy the fastests colonizing cakes ive ever had, with this ruin them in the long run? will they still produce shrooms?

My buddy has had rusted holes before using the PFtek. They were pretty bad if i remember correctly, but he doesn't remember seeing rust in the mycelium. You should be fine because rust is a fungus that grows on metal, not brf or grain or mushroom mycelium. My friend birthed his cakes anyway and they were just fine, potency and all
You should be fine, my friend was. But get rid of those jar lids when your done and get new ones or the rust will eventually get really bad on the lids. Next time rust can be avoided by lining the underside and topside of the holes with clear nail polish. My friend doesn't do that, but hears it works at preventing it.
Others may have a different opinion though.
BTW, assuming you are using the PFtek, didnt you cover the top of your brf/verm substrate with dry verm before sterilizing?

You could get some plastic jar lids as well.

I use them until there's so much rust on the lids I'm afraid they won't seal. Until then, it doesn't hurt a thing. The rings need to be changed before they get 'too' rusty or they can be a real bitch to get loose. RR
