cakes turning yellowish
    #665668 - 06/06/02 08:00 AM (22 years, 3 months ago)

My friend has several cakes sitting in the terriarium. He just dunked yesterday and today noticed the mycelium is turning yellow. So far it is mostly the three oldest cakes that have gone through about 3 flushes. But some is on the other 3 not so old cakes that are on their 2nd flush.

Is this contamination possibly, or is it just expired cakes?

The cakes coul be drying out, you could try dunking them in sterile water/h2o2 for +24h and get 1 or 2 more flushes. If the yellow spots are slimmy then it's probably contamination, you should throw them out then.

Peace,
MAIA

They were just dunked and about 6 hours after taking them out of the water (dunked for 24) I noticed a little yellow on 3 of them... Its not slimy, its dry. The spots arnt getting any bigger, but they got more brown. Maybe just cause the cakes are old, they're on their 3rd flush (but still going pretty strong).
