Green mold on cake in PMP

If the cake has shrooms growing on it but there's some green mold starting to grow at the bottom of the cake, are the shrooms still safe?
Also what should be done? Should the molded area try to be cut off with a clean knife or is the whole cake done?

Its done sir, you may not believe me... but I had a HUGEEEEEE war with the mean green.. it won very easily.. I sprayed the substrate with tilex hard core where the white green mold myc was before sporalation, it killed it for about 2 days then it came back meaner and stronger around that area, and spread its ugly spores everywhere.... dont be a victim of this foul crap.. CHUNK THAT CAKE OUT NOW!

You need to toss out the cake so it doesn't sporulate all over your house because that will make future grows more difficult. The fruits are fine if the mold is on the other side of the cake. I'd take it outside before removing from the pmp, then harvest the mushrooms and bury the rest in a shady spot outdoors. You might get a surprise later this summer. Be sure to wash your hands and clothes right away after handling moldy cakes or substrates. RR

Okay but I don't understand. If the mold makes the shrooms unsafe, why would I bury the cake and hope to get shrooms later? Wouldnt any new shrooms also be contaminated?
Also is this green mold harmful to me if it sporulates through the house or will it just make future grows more difficult?
Thanks again guys! This forum and everybody on it is very helpful!!

I said the mushrooms are safe to eat. It's the cake that needs to get buried or tossed in the trash. The reason to get it outside is so it doesn't puke spores all over your house. You can bury it into some manure or even fertile garden soil and it will sometimes fruit again, giving you another flush. RR

It is safe to eat.. Green mold itself can be eaten.. People have done this for years with green moldy cheese.. Not that I would eat green mold in any kind of quantity .

Okay. So take the PMP outside
harvest the baby shrooms
cut off the contaminated part of the cake and throw away
bury the uncontaminated cake in a shady spot and hope for a nice summer surprise
???

Almost. Leave the contaminated part attached and bury it whole. Trichoderma is a beneficial organism in the soil. Organic gardeners routinely order trichoderma cultures from supply houses to place in their garden soil.
If you've ever eaten a carrot, potato, peanuts, etc., they're covered with the stuff. It's harmless. RR

DAMN RR!! You truly are a wealth of information on this forum!!
Thanks again.
ONE MORE question...Will these little shrooms be enough to give a good trip? Are they similar to aborts? I guess that was two questions

Sure, if there's enough there. You'll need about 20 or more wet grams. RR
