i believe that for some people, if they want to believe in something, it will be true... for them. I would want to give astral projection a try to see IF its true, but for it to be true i have to believe its true in the first place, remove all doubt from my mind. My mind does not work that way, if something is real it will be real regardless of me accepting it or not.
so you're saying that even if i tried the technique, and really hoped for something to happen, that nothing would happen?

Well if you really hoped something would happen then chances are high it might. But as a rule of thumb, don't be discouraged if you don't have an OOBE the first try. It took me 3 months before I got my first planned one. Then another 2 months to fully master the technique. Now I can do it whenever I choose to.

but that aligning with poles and stuff, is that really necessary? i mean, could you give me a link to some detailed instructions, maybe some literature.

Don't worry about the alignment of the poles. So long as you get the relaxation part down pat you are good. The other stuff is pretty erogenous

Take nice deep breaths in through your nose and out (slowly) through your mouth. Do this till you feel quite relaxed. Then just breath in through your nose (slowly) to a count of four. Hold it for a count of four. Breath out through your nose to a count of four. Hold it for a count of four. Then just keep doing this till your body is so relaxed it is tingling like all hell or it is so heavy it feels like gravity has increased like 20 fold.

Most my dreams are extremely vivid, but not really lucid. I'm aware that what's happening isn't real, but I don't attempt to sway or change the course of the dream. I just let it flow and see what happens. It certainly keeps things interesting.
Dreams are my favourite entertainment

As a kid I had a multitude of dreams which included zombies, werewolves, and vampires. Funny thing is I would have totally lucid dreams. I would like pull out Rocket Launchers and AK-47's and stuff out of no where. As I grew older though I lost the innate ability. Ah youth, how I miss it so.

i'll try to get the relaxation down during the weekend. i read something about progressive muscle relaxation, i'll try that too. so, did you go to your friends place in japan? i mean had you been there before or had seen pictures of it? sorry if i'm trivializing your experience, but I really find that hard to believe but at the same time i would love to have a similar experience.

Well it is like this ( background information warning ).
According to certain belief systems there are three planes of exsistance, The Mental Plane, The Astral Plane, and The Physical Plane.
Now when we think about something it manifests itself on the Mental Plane. Whatever is manifested in the Mental Plane will eventually find itself onto the Astral Plane. Whatever finds itself on the Astral Plane will eventually manifest on the Physical Plane ( the plane on which we live ). Now during astral projection you cut out the Mental Plane and skip a whole step. You are now directly creating things on the Astral Plane.
So being on the Astral Plane, whatever you think of instantly manifests itself onto the Astral Plane; it is like cutting out the ethereal middle man.
Okay, enough of the history lesson for now. While on the Astral Plane you can just thinking " [insert person's name here ]'s House " and *POOF* there you are. Or you could take the Astral "senic route " and think of going to the person's house --even if you don't have ANY idea what direction or address the house is at -- and you may observe the landscape changes.

.:: Note that some things may look distorted or at a different angle in the Astral Plane than they are in the Physical Plane. Remember not only you have access to thinking and thus things may already be changing in the Astral Plane but have not manifested itself onto the Physical Plane ::.

Wow... that has got to be the most in depth and longest post I have ever made on the shroomery. Hope it helped a bit.
