Hair is thinning out and falling out
    #6073275 - 09/18/06 07:41 AM (17 years, 4 months ago)

Im a youngin, and recently...I've been loosing some of my hair. Not noticable to anyone except me. Im talking about, getting out of the shower and having a huge clump at the base of the drain.

It's also been thinning out....but my one question is, WHY!?. I have an excellent diet that's full of protein and I take a multivitamen everyday.

I did have extremely shitty eating habits 4-5 months ago. I'd only eat salads and diet coke....worked at loosing weight at the time. But from what I've read, eating like that can really catch back up with you in terms of your hair as well.

Any suggestions guys?

Genetics plays a big role with hair loss. I dont feel like finding a source, but I've read this many times before. It might just be in your genes, your best option would be to mutate quick, XMEN style.

It has probably nothing to do with your diet or health.

Read about the most common form of hair loss here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Androgenetic_alopecia

There are a few tested and FDA approved treatments(don't expect great results) and many bullshit not working expensive "medications". Here is a list of baldness treatments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldness_treatments

You probably have to live with getting bald. It's also possible that you have a less common form of hair loss, but you will have to contact a doctor to diagnose it.

Im going to the doc tomorrow to get some blood work done. Hopefully I can find out what the fuck is going on.....and maybe some medication. I just dont see why its hitting me while im so YOUNG.

Thanks for the replies guys. I found out that my grandfather on my mother's side is bald.....so that might be the source?

Do you know how the hair works? How it grows, what it is, etcetera..

I found information of how/what/why, always tend to make stuff be more manageable..

As I learned how blood coagulated, I learned to stop bleeding almost at will, for example..

Seems intent is what we are all about, some how..

Young people also get bald. I'm also losing hair and I'm also young, you are far from alone. It is likely genetic.

You never said how young you are ?

I'm 23 and ive been going bald for the last 2-3 years.
Everyone on my mums side of the family ( except the women, cos that'd be weird ..) has gone bald.

Ive got used to it now and it doesn't bother me at all, if anything i think it adds to me by taking away a slice of vanity..
Plus i never have to go for a hair cut again, i bought some clippers and now i just shave it all over.

It looked abit mad at first but everyone got used to it and so did i, now it's just me and it doesn't look bad at all.

I think hair loss carries its benefits..

About 12 months ago, my hair used to be down past my shoulders. I hsaved it last december I think.
The reason I shaved it is because everytime I got out of the shower, the drain would be fucking clogged, there would always be hair in the bed, etc, etc.
Point being, humans loose thousands of hairs everyday. I wouldn't worry about it too much. #1 your head if you get fed up with all the fur.

Go to docs and ask whats up.

My moms friend was balding at a young age. She went to the doctor, he gave her a cream to rub on her scalp and some pills and now her hair is fine. Just make sure not to wait, catch it when its early and your hair can be saved.

Dude, i was where you are a little while ago. No baldness in the family and im young, yet my hair was thining. Go to a doctor for a propecia (finasteride) prescription. This thing has changed my life lol. I stoped to thin. Even better, what i had lost have come back to the point no thining is noticeable now. It's fantastic.

My brother has experienced hair loss because of stress. I beleive I have as well.

If you're experiencing some stress, I suggest regular exercise. If not, still the same advice. =)

A week after I stopped taking my EC stack (ephedrine and caffine) while working out....the hairloss has stopped. But it has been thinning out...which at 20 fucking sucks.

Im going to the doctor, so im going to just see what we can do pill wise to help the do come back.

If your mother's father is bald, you will likely carry the gene also. I started balding at age 14 and now it's very noticeable, especially if I don't get a haircut.

It's very depressing but there's nothing you can do about it. Don't fall for quackery and stay away from surgery.

The truth is that women don't care much about looks, or at least not as much as they care about personality.

"One word: Minoxidil" That and the other things the doctor might give you will not reverse hair loss but they might slow it down or pause it as long as you keep taking them. They mess with your hormones, and I personally wouldn't use them, but it's up to you.

My hair is annoying me nowadays because I can't style it or do anything with it, it's too thin on top. I am going to shave it off completely most likely. I'll grow a thick white beard to compensate.. when I get my lab coat and a fancy microscope. /wishful thinking

I have gotten used to it. In fact, I take it as a test. Go to a dermatologist to see if it's hereditary or not.

Actually its a common misconception that Minoxidil affects hormones, it doesnt really work that way (I wouldnt use anything that affects hormones either). It works by stimulating blood flow to the hair follicles (a by-product of its original incarnation as a blood-pressure medication!). It can regrow hair you lost, but it affects different people in slightly different ways, some have more success than others.

In fact the baldness gene can come from any parent. My mothers father had a full head of hair, but I've noticed some slight thinning.

True that looks arent as important to women. Even ugly motherfuckers can get plenty of girls if they work on their game.

Well, months and months later....my hair is growing back.

Turns out it was the Ephedra. Now I find myself drinking twice as many cups of coffee to make up for it
