I've only tried playing a few of the games. I'm not quite sure what exactly is need to get it up and running. But duke nukem worked perfectly fine for me when I tried. I'll try out that dosbox in a bit.

I'm lost with the DOSbox though, you can download it for Mac OS X and all that good stuff... but no where does it tell you how to use it, so does it work on OS X, and how?

I don't know, but for windows you do this: These are some simple instructions, you may want to do more advanced shit like slowing down your cpu...
Unzip the game to some directory, say d:\dosgames\shroomgame
run dosbox.
you should be at a prompt like this:
Z:\>
Type "mount g d:\dosgames\"
What that does mount the place where you put the game onto this drive called g.
next, type:
"g:"
"cd shroomgames"
Next you need to run the "install" program by typing the name of the install program, i.e install.bat
make sure you don't install the game into the current directory, install it some where else. i.e g:\blahgame
