Blue Colouring?

Hiya. It's the newbie again - point form this time cuz I know y'all are busy...
- got 3 good sized cubes from 1st flush of 1st experimental cake - several small, round growths with tiny heads growing around the 3 large ones - upon harvesting, noticed a blue-ish colouring on the cake where the stalks had broken off
I have two questions...
1) is the blue colouring normal or is it contamination? I seem to remember reading somewhere that blue was normal... & that Dr. Bluethumbs ad makes me wonder. Advice?
2) also, will the tiny cubies start to grow now that the big ones have left the cake?

Yes, bluing of the cake after being disturbed is normal. As for the small ones growing..usually not..the smaller ones tend to 'abort' and the caps will start to turn almost black and show no growth for awhile. Pick em' if they are black or they will rot.

Rot? Rot!? Uh oh ... can that rot spread to the rest of the cake? I harvested the 3 big guys last night and the little ones are looking kinda stale - should I pick them tonight/asap?
Also, how do you define a "flush"? I mean, obviously, that cake has had it's "first flush" - once the aborts are removed, should the next growths be considered as the "second flush"?

Mushrooms begin the decompose once they have produced the spores, it's natural. A rotten mushroom will bring contam's in. If the smaller ones haven't grown and the cap looks black. Pick them.
Yes, your on your way to flush #2
