Pill Bug Hotel in my outdoor patch

Does anyone know how to get rid of these little bastards without hurting the shrooms? I just did the patch last night and came out this morning to look at how hidden it was. I had trouble finding it, so the hidden part is covered, but there are at LEAST 500 pill bugs crawling around on it, and i imagine in it. I used horse poo and a half colonized cake for the patch. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!! Tell me how to kill the little fuckers.

i have the same damn prob. i also have slugs on my outdoor grow spot i tried puting a big ring of salt around the "garden" keeps slugs away but the salt melts after a day it seems to keep out the pill bugs as well but i cant put out more salt every day so igave up on it also i am not shure that putting salt around a "garden" is safe for the shrooms oh yea and i am a newbie so i really dont know for shure hope my 2 cents is worth something.

Thanks for that... Im sorry that they are fukken with you too, but its good to hear that im not the only one with this problem... There HAS to be something i can do to get rid of them.

i know for slugs fill a margarine lid or something with beer, they like the beer for some reason, cant help with the bugs though sorry

so could i dig a moat around my "garden" and fill it with beer or just put a bowl of beer next to it so they would prefer the beer to mycellium??

umm..my stepmom just filled a few small tubs and kinda buried so they were ground level..the slugs will go to it...

Slugs - 20oz bottle cut in half..fill with beer..inset into ground.

"You can also effectively trap pill bugs using a half of a cantaloupe that's placed upside down where pill bugs are a problem.

Harvest and drop the bugs in a bucket of soapy water once a day. Within a week or two, you will have dramatically reduced the population of pill bugs and reduced the problems they cause as well."

Also, I've heard vinegar+oil in a tuna can or some sort works too.

They are actually beneficial to plants..breaking down organic matter..the main problem with them are when they eat the plants..I'm not sure if they will disturb a mushroom patch or not.

My only concern is if you put that bottle/container of beer out there you might face a whole new kind of parasite. They're called "Hobos" and once they find out that the beer isn't the only thing there you might have a whole new family member to deal with.

that was some real funny shit.

Hey, looks like some good suggestions about combatting the slugs and pill bugs. Here's one other-

My mother used to dig a small hole and put a coffe can in there with water. Some how those pill bugs are supposed to fall in it (the lip is at ground level) and drown. perhaps if you use a large enough can, the hobos will fall in there, too.
