Cutting Mushrooms

When drying mushrooms, is it permissable to cut the extra-thick ones vertically along the stalk to speed drying? Will this make the interior oxidize and reduce potency?

I do this on a regular basis. I haven't noticed any problems.

I cut mine all the time......cause I get some pretty big ones and don't want them to get rotten.
They don't lose potency.....they just dry faster.

Thanks, everyone! My friend's shrooms are happily drying in front of a fan as I type. If only it wasn't so darn humid right now, they might have been done already!
