Career In Halucinogens
    #6629865 - 03/02/07 10:57 PM (17 years, 30 days ago)

Okay...I'm more of a lurker here, as opposed to an active poster, so you all probably don't know me. But I'm here nearly everyday, mainly in the psychedelic experience section, where I find new things to look up and explore.

Anyhow...

I've come to realize that my interest in hallucinogens is limitless. I literally spend hours of everyday just looking up more and more...

How to pursue a career is my question? Are there careers?

I've read about people conducting research for such and such, but how do you break into things like that?

Ideas anyone.....

lol....It does...but I think I'll pass.

I'm lookin' for something legit. And a bit more intellectual and legal. It's not simply for the money.

Go get a degree in Biochemistry. That's about the only way I can think of, as I don't see many want ads for "LSD Taker"

Biochemistry...and then what, you get into research fields and whatnot?

Or is it still damn hard to get a job after you have the degree....

I just spent a shitload of time looking at careers and majors, but for some strange reason they don't explain how you can take a degree into the field of hallucinogens. Go figure.

work with what stimulates your brain and makes you want to explore. after phychadelics are all about exploration.

I was almost hired as an LSD taker once

I failed the drug test. :frown:

I'd ask OneMoreRobot. I'm pretty sure he's steering towards that. There's an article floating around the net, I think by MAPS, that gives advice on how to approach psychedelics in your studies and as a profession.

Maybe look for a school with a Ethnobotany program. I think that would be a good choice if you wanted to go into research of psychoactive plants. It's a relatively new program. The University of Hawiai is the only school I know of that has the program. They also have a ethnobotany Ph.D. program.

Get a degree in psychology/biochemistry. Then pursue a Ph. D in neuroscience.

Not to mention that you assume the role of bureaucratic asshole who attempts to regulate what us "free" Americans can and cannot put in our bodies.

I would hate myself if I worked for the DEA.

Why even try? There are ex-Drug Enforcement Agents who are now members of LEAP. Do you know some secret about the DEA that the rest of us don't?
