Sears carries a presto pressure cooker for 30 bucks, and it has worked great. It has a rocker on top which basically tells you its at 15psi. Thats all you need. Its small so it takes only 6 1/2 pint jars at a time.

I'd say you might as well get one. Dosn't really matter how fancy you go. I got one used from e-bay. Got an eight quart pressure cooker with three settings. only fifteen bucks for the pot and a woping sixteen bucks for the shipping. Damn that sucked. But you know what? Now I can can all of my homegrown tomatoes!

Hey there,
I'd really recommend you getting one. I just started out and am on my first grow, but all my jars so far are 100% contam free and I'm sure the PC is the reason why. I got an 8qt. Mirro PC at Wal-Mart for $50.00. Holds 10, 1/2-pint jars perfectly.
Good luck!

I would buy an All American if you plan on making this a long term hobbie, i ordered an All Am from Sporeworks a couple months ago but never got it. I finally went out and got a Mirro at Wal-Mart. The Mirro has a gasket though that can break and the sfety seal leaks some so it is hard getting it up to steam on my electric range.(the kind of range with the elements under the glass)

Dude. Take that piece of crap back to walmart and get your money back. Walmart has a 1 year return policy on anything they sell. My mom once bought some litle shrubs for the yard and left them on the side of the garage for like 8 months in their original bags. Of course they were burned to a crisp from the sun and no water. She took them back and they gave her a full refund. I think they'll even give you store credit if you don't have your original receipt.
