What is the difference between the indica and sativa high? I know that indica is the couch lock stoned, while sativa is the cerebral high, but what are the specific effects of each? I mean, which is responsible for laughing, munchies, red eye, ect.

You just answered your own question. red eye/munchies/laughing are pretty much the effects of any decent bud when taken.
Indica = stoney, couchlock, sedative
Sativa = Cerebral, awake, perhaps more euphoric in a way
While both of these can ofcourse produce feelings of hunger and laughter, as well as red eyes.

So one strain doesn't lean towards certain side effects moreso than others? The question just came to me when I was buying some laughing buddha, which is almost entirely sativa. I questioned if the name implied that the sativa induced laughter and hunger. There was also some sensi star, that was entirely indica, but I'm not creative enough to fabricate connections between the name and the effects.
I guess what I am really asking is: What's the indica/sativa:THC/CBD ratio for that stuff in Grandma's Boy that makes you walk like Frankenstein?

Name has little to do with effect it's just whatever is clever at the time or refers back to the parents genes.Sativa are just more likely to be tall for the most part the buzz is more about trichome ripeness when harvested early is more up and happy,late is more lay back and watch tv simple as that.The nuances of buzz,colors and flavors are more why so many strains.

No, there is a difference in strains. There is an indica bud, a sativa bud, and a million cross strains. I do think indicas have a higher CBD to THC ratio. As well, there are a bunch of other cannabinoids that affect the high. If you are an experienced grower, you can get white widow or silver haze seeds and grow them into dank-ass weed. When you buy a product from a trusted dealer who knows what he is buying, you know what weed you are getting by the name. The ~THC percent and THC to CBD ratio are different for each strain, so that I when I buy weed I can get the high I want when I want it. So that gets me back to my first question: are there specific side effects (laughing, munchies) to indicas or sativas, or are most of the effects present for both strains, besides the body high of indica and the energetic, cerebral high of sativa.

As far as laughing goes, when I smoke sativa I find myself to be very giggly and laughing quite often during my high. However after smoking a good indica I'm just chilling sitting around but I always have one REALLY great laugh that almost gets me to the point of hurting. Might just be me but it's a pretty consistent occurrence.
