any experiences inducing pinning with led's?

I've pulled up and read through the previous vague discussions on shroomery about using led's to induce pinning. Sounds like two diffused white 1500 mcd led's per 10 gal tank should work fine w/o the heat problems of incandescents and flourescents. Only negative is price (around $2 per led) and it appears that this white phosphor may even degrade after only 1000 hours of usage, shifting the frequency range to a yellow hue. My big question is if anybody has tried to use any frequency led and what their experiences were. Did it induce pinning normally? What color did you use? What mcd rating was your led? Was it a diffused led? etc ... Just trying to see if anybody has experiences they can share ...

Yes my friend had someone build him a lil switch box with 4 LED's comming off of it with wires so you could turn on any of the four you wanted. He used super bright white LED's and left them on 24/7 ... worked rather well compared to casings without the LED's 24/7 .. pinning time was reduced only by a day or two.. over all it wasn't worth the money he paid for having the guy build it... he just put it away ... too much hassles just use regular light from the sun.
