on blue spectrum FC lighting

from what i have searched it seems that mushrooms prefer a light high in blue.
my lightbulbs are regular 60watt bulbs however, the lid of my new fruiting chamber is a translucent blue.
will the color of my lid in combination with normal lighting above bring about a similar effect on my culture?

You're probably fine even without the blue plastic. The lightbulb will always emit a certain amount of blue color. The blue plastic just absorbs all of the other colors so only those blue waves get get by. If you really are concerned, just buy a "daylight" CFL or one of those GE Reveal bulbs.

the reason i ask is because im having a hard time cutting a window through my lid, the plastic is very rough. i was thinking of just keeping the lamp above and letting the dimmer light simply shine through to the grow.

There's a world of difference between 'blue spectrum' and what you get when a red light(incandescent) shines through blue plastic.(dim) By 'blue' they mean high frequency light, such as would be emitted by a metal halide bulb, or natural sunlight fluorescent. You'll want to get better lighting to get the best pinsets. RR

It's better than nothing, but only ten percent of the electricity to run an incandescent is turned into light. The other ninety percent is turned into heat. Fluorescent fixtures are the opposite. 90% of the energy is turned into light and ten percent into heat. They're also closer to the frequency that is ideal for pinning. RR

Screw in type compact fluorescent bulbs, work fine. Tube type fluorescent growlux, are even better.

No they aren't, you want 6500 Kelvin color temp, CFL 23 watts, but if you can give them sunlight you don't need the bulbs and electricity.
