If you have dried cactus, it is the simplest method I've found. But even if you're starting with a fresh cutting, it isn't much work to slice it thin and dry out the slices.

Check www.erowid.com there are plenty of different methods of preparation. I chop the cactus up into little pieces, freeze them overnight, then boil them for 3-4 hours until it becomes this nasty pulp, then you strain the juice from that and make a tea.
