so what would happen if i make a small peat/BRF cake. anyone done this in the past of have some advice? Looking for a first experiment. Also what's a good mush to try growing after Ps. Cub. looking for more chalenge and potency? growing these things is more fun than eating them, j/k

You really do not want to mix peat in with your substrate. You would take away from the nutrients that the BRF provides for the mushies. It would basically be wasted volume. As for a good strain to try next...maybe pan. trops. They're a little different and potency is much better.

It wouldn't be worth it at all. Peat moss is indeed ok to use as a casing..but it will not hold as much water for as long as vermiculite would. Also the cake would probably crumble or turn into mush. And its open to contams much more so as the verm is not.

If your looking for a diff mushroom species..Panaeolus Subs, Pan. Cyanescens, Ps. Cyanescens. Do a couple searches on the board..you will find everything you need.
