That's actually ideal. They seem to like a temp drop at night. RR

Cool thanks for the replies....for some reason I can't get the humidity beyond 80...no droplets forming on the side of the terrarium or anything...
There is so much water in the bottom of it that the bottom 1/2 inch of perlite won't hold any more....I think maybe it's because I drilled too many C02 vent holes...10 1/4 in total, right under the top of the dry perlite at the bottom...
or else perhaps the lid isn't sealing completely...it looks pretty airtight.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the input all!

you temps are fine, perlite actually loses its effectiveness if it is soaked,it should only be damp,I would put it into a colander or strained and let the excess water drain out of it and I bet your humidity goes up when you replace it

still can't seem to get it up there...
put the perlite in a collander, dunked it, and then put it into the terarium by hand making sure to shake off the excess water....
after about a half inch of that i covered it with another half inch of dry perlite....humidity is still around 80....maybe not enough water? i poured three small glasses of water in over it just in case (it's a big terarium...
those jars are all gonna start trying to fruit soon.... =/

im not an expert but maybe try misting clean water on the sides of the fc, this would seem to work buy getting it there, then the perlite and tight seal would keep it..but im not sure some one correct me if im wrong

Why on earth would you put dry perlite in a fruiting chamber??
I have well over 100 quarter inch holes drilled into all six sides of my latest fc. Drain your perlite well, then place 4 inches of it into the terrarium with zero standing water(which will be impossible with a dozen or two holes in the bottom) and NO dry perlite. Watch your humidity go to 98% in a couple of hours. RR

Put in ~4inches of wet, well strained perlite with very close to no standing water...(a little tiny bit when you stir it all around) and the humidity is still around 80...maybe my cheap ass hydrometer is just no good?
i haven't seen any mist forming on the inside walls of the FC yet... i thought maybe this was caused by the lid not sealing tight enough so i duct taped it down on the sides and corners, but that didn't help...
maybe having the thermometer taped to the inside of it is hurting it somehow?
here are a few pics that don't really show anything, but in the second you can sorta see a little bit of standing water running of the ultra-soaked perlite (it gets wetter the deeper you get...)
mb i should mix in a little dry stuff?
in any event i need to do something to my jars in the meantime, because one is def trying to fruit right now and the rest will be soon.
TIA

you want to use 2 or 3" of moist perlite....moist not dry. spread it out evenly across the bottom of the fruiting chamber!~
and I'll bet that that humidity gauge that you are showing in the picture isn't very acurate.

That humidity gauge sucks. It's probably from home depot and it uses a coil on the back that controls the needle. It's hard to re-calibrate and goes out of whack all of the time.

I'm no expert by any mean,s but my guess is your hygrometer. My first hobby was cigar smoking/collecting and I went through 3 of the cheaper style hygrometers in my humidor before splurging and getting a decent one that actually worked... the 3 other cheap ones always showed 75% humidity, no matter what. If you've got 3-4" of hydrated perlite in the bottom of a tub, I doubt theres any way you only have 80% humidity in there.

Agreed. Plus get that darn duct tape off the lid and crack it open a bit. You need air exchange as much as high humidity. Air exchange is the number 1 pinning trigger.
Wrap your hygrometer up in a damp bath towel and leave it for one hour. Unwrap and adjust the screw on the back so it reads 98%. If there's no adjusting screw on the back, toss it in the trash and go to a cigar shop in your local area and buy a hygrometer. I get good ones from my local neighborhood cigar shop for twenty bucks. Cool, for the time being I put some cakes in there to see what were happen...a couple had big pins starting to form on the inside of the jar.
Will invest in a quality hygrometer tomorrow and let you know what it reads...
So can the humidity be around 98% even if I don't see any condensation on the inside walls of the FC?

Droplets on the inside of your FC result from the difference in air temperature and FC temperature.
If you are not using a heating device, it would make sense that you see no water droplets.
