the pins are about 1cm long at the mo'. Funny looking little fuckers. The only problem being all the pins have appeared on the inside of the toilet roll, where the tube was, might be a bit crowded once they get big. Can't wait to eat a few

yup, they took their sweet time, and several cold-shocks to fruit, but they got round to it eventually.

I just poured some rye spawn into the middle of the roll and poked a few individual grains into gaps between the sheets to speed it up a bit. There's no spawn visible now as I scraped it out once the roll was colonised and didn't look like it was going to fruit, so I could try colonising another roll.

That is one of the coolest things I've seen all week!
You made the toilet roll? That is a great accomplishment. I bought a kit from FP and couldn't get it to fruit.
Congrats, from what I've heard the nameko is a true culinary treat, reminescent of cashews. That genus is mostly poisonous, in fact the nameko is the only Pholotia [sp?] that I know of that is a good edible. . .
Looks pretty easy, if only I had a roll of toilet paper to spare

the spawn was from an isolated strain to begin with, so they're already clones. I will be making a few cultures though.

LOL@ toilet paper
I found that they liked fruiting in October outdoors. Given it some cold 45 *F nights and some rainy days or maybe it was in september. I dunno fall season.
Nameko on sawdust blocks plus a cloud of humidity and they explode out. Wooo! Miss those fuckers!
The thing is a lot of consumers are turned off by the slime......
ha then when i get ready to post i scroll up to find this is an umburied thread....
Ah slaps head the kambucha!

I'm sure his took so long to fruit due to the toilet paper. They fruit fairly fast on hardwood sawdust/chips, especially if they are supplimented with wheat or rice bran before sterilzation. Pretty mushrooms. The slime cooks away, leaving excellent texture afterwards. RR
