Baggie v. Container
    #6587188 - 02/19/07 09:00 PM (17 years, 1 month ago)

I used to keep my weed in whatever baggies I got it in from my dealer or my own ziploc bags, but a friend told me THC rubs off on the plastic and so I should switch to jars. I made the switch, but I liked the flexibility and hide-ability of bags and kind of miss them. Are jars really any better?

I use small glass jars. I wouldn't go any other way.

The keif rubs off onto the plastic, it gets dried out quickly, and isn't optimum to hold freshness.

Jars all the way. If you like bags and "hide-ability" then you can always keep your stash in a jar but take a nug or two at a time when you travel. Works out better in more ways than one.

I use a waterproof matches container or a prescription bottle.
Both work exceptionally well for keeping a small headstash in your pocket.

Film canisters work great, so do prescription bottles.
I have several friends with medical licenses, and they give me their containers, so mine have the names of the bud on the outside, it's pretty tight.

fuck baggies. my weed is in a baggie from when i get it from my guy until i can get it right into my container (sometimes with my humidifier in there too to moisten up the bud a lil)

mason jars work really well if you've got a lot of weed.

also, just a big ass glass jar with a cork will work.

good luck.

I store my reefer in a mason jar, take out the amount I'm going to smoke that day, and put it in a little baggy.

Glass jars are all the way. For countless reasons. Hell the last stage for curing pot(well IMO) is the glass jar anyway, always take you buds out of the bag people.

Ed of "ask ED"(hightimes) agrees. Ed now works for Cannabis Culture. Because it's a much better magazine then hightimes. And because Ed had a falling out with some of the douches from Hightimes.

Plastic bags for storage
by Ed Rosenthal (05 Jan, 2005)

Are vaccuum seal bags as bad as regular plastic?

You have written that plastic bags are the worst storage for buds.

Does that also apply to those vacuum-sealed bags or will these help keep it fresh?

XO Remy,
Internet

Polyethylene plastic bags such as baggies or zip-locs have an electrical charge which attracts glands. If you look at the surface of a used bag you will notice that it is covered with glands that have bonded with the plastic. Even scraping the material with a sharp surface such as a knife or razor blade will not remove them. These glands hold THC, the active ingredient in grass. When these glands transfer from the vegetative material to the bag, the potency of the grass is reduced.

Glass, metals and thermally-sealed plastic don't carry an electrical charge so they can be used to store marijuana without affecting its quality.

I disagree! I was at a large outdoor rave, and was well stocked on gelcaps which i figured "hey, lets keep them in a script bottle, thats not sketchy" - anyways, i fell in the mud when i was all fucked up, broke the bottle and my 50+ gel caps of molly turned into a thick bitter brown sludge by morning. The bright side is that apperently they retained their potency and may have even increased (seeing it was hard to measure a dose of slime!) - my friends were happy to take them off my hands at a reduced cost.

Bags or solid jars.. are the way to go!

Jars(or a container, if you would)! Should have added a poll up in here.

Containers are unique and collect keif better, always retain a great smell/freshness. No possibility of your your herb getting damaged.

how long do you guys hold your weed for, shit get it and smoke it. do that and there will be no loss of potency. and really how much potency do you really think it is going to lose if it is bud. maybe if it is chopped and it is getting rubbed against the plastic alot it would lose a bit of potency but surely it couldn't be that much.

Most of my friends use small tins..

they have a lid which is good for scooping, a wide open walled surface for rolling in, can hold other things, collect your kief - etc.
