Gypsum and endospore
    #6569905 - 02/15/07 06:19 AM (17 years, 1 month ago)

Im going to try The WBS bleaching tek http://forums.mycotopia.net/showthre...ghlight=bleach with fractional sterilization.

My question is: is adding Gypsum to the soaking water (after draining the bleach)a bad idea (posible endospores addition)?

or gypsum just dont have any comtas in it?

Thanks in advance!

Just experimenting. Im trying to find a way to produce bulk spawn without a pc. I know you cannot beat a pc but that doesnt mean that you're no free to try diferent ways of doing things. Think about countrys where people cannot afford a pc...

Just look micolo2 post in the gourmet forum. He sterilize with no pressure steam in a 55gal drum. And some Mycotopia's members have great success using the bleach-fractional tek...

well to answer your question, no, gypsum wouldn't harbor any endospores and wouldn't be of concern with that respect.  gypsum is a mineral... a lot like vermiculite.  nothing there for contams to eat, so contams wouldn't be found within.  if in doubt you could bake it at high temps (400-500F) in an oven and that'll do ya for certain, but almost definitely overkill and unnecessary.

there is a decent way to produce PC-less spawn, they're called pf-cakes... maybe you've heard of them?  for all the haters - don't flame it, cakes make excellent spawn.  a half dozen would send you well on your way to colonizing 5lbs of poo for a modest grow.  really not that bad!

kudos to experimenting no matter what the "just buy a PC" crowd has to say about it
