Looking Healthy?
    #656967 - 06/01/02 05:30 AM (22 years, 8 months ago)

This is one of my more average jars. I've had to incubate and was wondering if it looks like everything is going all right.

Been about 8 days since I stuck them in there. Just checking to make sure everything is ok.

(Note the red coloring on the side of the jar is from my optical mouse which was just next to it when I took the picture on my desk.)

Looks just fine to me. When you inoculate try to let the spore liquid run down the wall of the jar to the bottom. This helps the mycelium spread faster, but your doing just fine from the looks of things.

Seeing as how you must be new to the craft, i would suggest using 1/2 pint, not pint jars. It will allow the mycelium to completely colonize faster giving contaminants less time to get a foothold. Just a little fyi for you.

Ya, I realized that they were pint jars a little too late so I just went with it. I am going to go out and get some 1/2 pints for the next bunch I decide to make. Thanks for the replies and advice.
