so I'm wondering who here may have experience with this product:
Black Hen composted poultry manure Made by the Black Kow people
here's some more pics and whatnot:

I'm not considering using this as a stand alone ingredient, more like something that would be mixed with either coir or hpoo or...whatever.
anyway, tell me what you think, what's your opinion of it?

Ive never seen it before but it seems like something to add into some coir,I mean I'm sure it wouldn't hurt,I'm thinking it would just add nutes the same way worm castings do

Never saw that brand, but composted chicken manure can be used at up to 5% of the bulk substrate. I always lay it out in the sun for a few days to get the stink off. RR

Read how "N" hot poultry manure can be. As RR states, don't use more than 5%. Added to a compost/h/poo/coir type substrate. Any more, and it gets far to "N" hot.
And, "myc", don't like like it.

this seems to be different than normal poultry manure. it's got a lower nitrogen content.
and yeah, I'll lay it out in the sun for a few, she's a bit stinky.
anyone else ever tried/seen this particular brand? thanks so far for the suggestions.

The compost in which mushrooms grow commercially requires three basic components: straw, poultry manure and gypsum. The mushroom industry utilizes poultry manure in compost production because of its uniquely high nitrogen value, which helps mushrooms grow, as well as a dry consistency which enables it to mix well with the other raw materials.
http://www.uoguelph.ca/research/news/articles/2002/recycling_poultry_manure.shtml
For synthetic compost preferably wheat or rye straw is used. Per tonne 600–900 kg of chicken manure, 75 kg of gypsum and about 5000 l of water are added, resulting in 3000 kg of compost. The straw is first mixed with 2/3 of the chicken manure, watered en gets heated for 7–10 days. The purpose of this pretreatment is to make a product similar to horse manure as it leaves the stables.
