it took me 2 years to get my score, they also gave percentile scores but it's so
broad that it's a shit way of doing it, the actual scores are what you should
pay attention to.

thats odd becauase ive never had a raw score.. not even in my file that i have in front of me.. oh well

and asvab scores are very important.. but once your over a certain mark, it doesnt.. like theres very little difference between 90-99 IMO... you still qualify for every job with a 90.

Knowing heavy diesel engine repair will make sure you're never unemployed unless you want to be.

Congrats Banez I know this is something you want.

Prisoner, so you think he seriously, hand-in-the-air, might end up in Iraq? What do you base it on, this sucks :frown:

Banez if you get what you want then I congratuate you, but there are some strong rumors to the contrary.

Banez,

Some tips for basic training.

A) NEVER volunteer for anything. This is first and foremost. If they ask for volunteers in boot camp that means they are looking to give you some shit duty.

B) Keep a low profile, keep as quiet as possible, and just watch for a while. There are going to be some insanely stupid people in bootcamp and you can just sit back and observe what they get into for being so dumb.

C) Get a list of addresses and mail people frequently. When I was in the military (Marine Corps) the ONLY thing I looked forward to outside of graduation was letters from friends and family. Cultivate that, for letters are like manna from heaven in bootcamp. They keep you sane and focused.

D) Ignore chicks in bootcamp. I know the Army now combines females and males into platoons. Getting hung up on a chick wile in bootcamp is highly ill-advised.

E) Do really push hard on physical fitness and especially on rifle training/testing. If you are the best shooter in your platoon come testing day then you have a huge edge on not being fucked with as much.

Good luck to you, bro. Basic training is not a lot of fun but the memories as you get older will be fun!!

i agree with everything except E.. i was directly advised to miss the target as frequent as possible.. a high marksmanship score will pressure them into trying to renegioate my contract.. and when i refuse to take a combat job, they will make my life shit.

this coming directly from my recruiter/ family friend who was an MP for 12 years.. i also have several people ill be writing to keep my mind straight including a couple shroomery members

and thanks for the support guys.

Well, if you are a REALLY good shooter then you may qualify for sniper school. I'll tell you what, I know guys that did that and their military career was a breeze! I know of one that left the military and is a sharpshooter for the Secret Service. EASY job, great pay, great benefits, etc.

However, the choice is yours and the choices are good and plenty.

PM me if you want a letter or two from moi while in bootcamp!! I'll mail you.

yeah see im more interested in just learning my diesel mechanic trade, studying some accounting and getting some of my diesel mechanic qualifications done while i serve.

i may or may not extend past my 3 year deal, depending on my experience.. but either way.. ill come out into a high demand field.

You can be stationed state side and be deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. It is a cute little play on words that recruiters use to....well.....recruit

As a diesel mechanic his MOS will be needed over there in a big way.

The advice on boot-camp was dead on, btw
