wow. sickness. yeah mike dosent have much of a stage presencebut i admire his meditative style of playing. i read that once while they where jamming mike just started playing one note over and over and over. so trey and fish left the room and got somthing to eat. then page left. and mike was jsut alone in ther. then 2 hours later they came back and he was still playing the note.

Lizards always used to be my favorite. The story is just so good and music is great too.
But for the real jams, for me its either: Reba, Moma Dance, Punch You In The Eye, YEM, or AC/DC Bag. Could never choose one, although Possum has really been doing it for me lately ha.

Seven Below sticks out as one of my favorites, it's so "frosty" sounding.
Their a capellas were always a favorite of mine live, they seemed to get better and better at it every time.
And I liked when they just goofed off and did vaccum solos alot.
I loved them doing Barrett covers. One time in London I called out Effervescing Elephant and they did it, haha, then I called out Terrapin and they did that one too. It was cool.

Hm, well they played it that night in London 96 for certain. I'm not even sure if any of the almanacs recorded all the shows on that tour because some of the venues only fit a couple hundred people.. but I could have sworn I heard them play it at least once in the states too. I'm foggy on all the statistics.
96 in europe was the best tour I ever did with them. I got to talk with the band members and hang out at most of those shows. It was pretty neat to meet them all like that. Otherwise in the states at big venues the only person I could find to talk with was Mike in the parking lots and whatnot.
They were all out and about walking around in Amsterdam. I was sitting at an outdoor cafe drinking beer with my buddy and saw all four of them together walking down the street, it would have been the perfect photo op. Trey was asking us where to score space cakes! Mike (weird fella) was asking me if I saw something floating in his orange drink, he cracks me up. They were very stoned I suppose, I didn't get into the Amsterdam show that night because the friends I was traveling with all got too stoned to even go, but Mike later told me that they couldn't get through any of the tunes and wasn't the best that night. Then next day my friend bumped into trey and he offered to give him all the bands herb and hash or whatever because they didn't want to travel with it on their bus, but he didn't have it on him I don't think. But I loved meeting trey, but one time my buddy and I spotted him walking down the street somewhere and we walked up to talk with him and he was in a different mood and just kinda mumble hi or whatever and walked away from us not interested in talking to fans. Overall I liked talking with Fishman the most (he's my favorite of the four), real cool guy. I was sitting by myself outside a small auditorium one day before a show in Italy next to a river drinking Italian beer and he just sat down right next to me and started up a conversation with me. I talked with him for a while, then a horde of hippie chicks saw what was going on and were all over him after that. But that was my favorite phish show I ever attended. A small town outside of Milan Italy, no tapers were there I don't think. No set list excists of that show either I dont think.

i'd like to change my vote to harry hood.
shit, actually i haven't listened to much phish at all in the past couple of months
notapillow - do you mean terrapin the syd barret song or terrapin station the garcia/hunter song? they played the syd barret one a few times, i'm pretty sure...
and as for your stories of meeting the band, ggreatone, i've got a funny one that happened to a friend. they were at some show on mike's birthday (i think great went or some phish festie, but i'm not sure) and saw him driving around on a golf cart. they jumped on and gave him a bottle of whiskey (supposedly his favourite or some such shit) and he got all pissy and pushed them off the moving cart. probably didn't help their case that they were both really crusty tour-rat kids who probably reminded him of the angels who stomped him & pretty much only went on phish tour to get belligerently drunk and throw things at people while yelling "fuck fish fish sucks grateful dead motherfucker fuck fish etc etc etc" but he could've at least said thanks before pushing them off the golf cart
