I have this crazy idea...

Can you make an LC and before it does what it does, could you pull it into the syringe and have it grow inside that???

Only use 2cc of your syringe - so you have back up if something goes wrong... Good luck!

any brits out there confused by karo.
lyle's "golden syrup" works fine.
~1/4 teaspoon per half pint.

I would not recommend using honey from the hive. The stuff you get at the store is normally pasteurized or at least filtered heavily. It would likely result in major contamination problems especially if you don't pc. Raw honey is a must for making mead because it will ferment correctly. I don't think fermentation is a good quality in an lc.

It will only ferment into mead if the proper yeast is added along with water. The same goes with any sort of sugary liquid. Honey is actually one of a few foods that never spoils.

I love honey over karo, there is no comparison between the two, speed, thickness, honey wins on every level and I have compared them side by side on at least a dozen occasions.Honey wins hands down, its that simple

I used almost the EXACT same methods for my first LC, including a well-washed salsa jar. Mine used a few CCs of solution from the syringe I used for my very first grow. The results were excellent, even six months later. I forgot to include something solid (a marble, some glass shards, whatever) to aid in mixing when shaking the jar, but that didn't seem to matter. I always flame sterilize needles AND wipe them with alcohol, since this bit of extra care is really easy.

In my brief time in this hobby, I've found that sanitation seems to be the most important factor, followed by using or adapting proven methods rather than trying to innovate before you are comfortable with what you are doing -- I mixed methods from the start, but they were all proven methods and I made sure everything was clean.

Also I stabed my finger with the needle trying to get the top off. Anyone else ever done that?
