Individual Indians may be, but the Indian government assuredly is not. Ask any Bengali, Kashmiri or Bangladeshi.

Good article. By the way, "The Economist" is an EXCELLENT magazine. Even though the name would lead you to believe it is focussed primarily on economic issues, their international affairs section is extensive and comprehensive and as unbiased as it is possible for any journal to be.

"The Economist" is miles above the level of "Time" or "Newsweek". I've been reading it for decades and recommend it to anyone.

Peacefully inclined? That's myth that hippies like to indulge in.

Read some Indian history, or even current news like the Times of India online edition. They have all the same inclinations as everybody else. Neat country, nice people, great food, but not a peaceful place.

It seems the indian government is alwasy into any fad that brings itself along, since the 1900's no other country has compared to the u.s., so in fact the Indian is just playing america's watchdog, they love democracy, they love american democracy inside India, in fact, they love democracy so much, as to go murder socialist practicing inside India. They in fact are probraly trying to instigate war with Pakistan, just because they are not up the U.s. ass like they ought to be.

I am hoping for an all out nuclear war. With the hope that other countrys will join in.
It would certainly be interesting at the very least. GLOBAL NUCLEAR WARFARE.
My, aren't we just the smartest animals on the planet?

Who was it that said "Once more, into the abyss"?

Luckily, I now live in a small, remote little village. There isn't a decent nuclear target within 500 miles. Do you think that is a safe enough distance? I haven't researched what the after-effects of such a war might entail.

India is instigating nothing. They didn't ask for terrorists to slaughter their villagers or bomb their parliment. There is plenty of strife within India, but they are not the aggressors here.

Indians are yet another group that Islamic fundies cannot get along with, like Jews, Christians, Buddhists, and Sihks. Most Indian Muslims are not whackos, and realize that they are much better off livnging in India than in an Islamic Republic like Pakistan.

RE: "I am hoping for an all out nuclear war"

Please dont say that... As I read thu this thread CNN HEADLINE NEWS was saying that a worse case senario between just these two countrys would result in the deaths of 11-17 million people (not acounting for long term effects).

The nuclear weapons they have will barely make bigger booms than our atom bombs dropped on Japan.

Fallout wouldd NOT effect any other countries. During the cold war, the US and Russia tested hunddreds of larger bombs above ground each year with minimal effect on world safety.

However, within the two countries, several hundred times the number dead from our Jap bombings will be killed becauase of the huge concentrations of people in those two places.

I hope it does not happen, but I am not fearful for my personal safety if it does happen.

The likelihood of these nations' fighting will lead to some sort of holocaust are almost nil. they will destroys eachother and that will likely be the end of it.

Still, it would be aweful.....

Really?

I was lstening to some US high up kinda guy say that
our supercomputers have been modeling possible outcomes
for years...and that at their current capability levels,
the fallout would not dramatically effect other countries....

I guess that's just one thing I heard.....I'll watch some boob tube for more, hopefully accurate, info.

I don't know....if it hurts China, count on China getting involved in a major way.....

My friend from mainland china said it's getty really edgy there, He immigrated to the east coast. He said it's turning into dog eat dog, whether or not because they expect some sort of nuclear war in that area is, I don't know, but China's nuclear weapons are on the east coast, so he probraly is'nt safe there either. In the event of nuclear war, we would probraly bomb the nuclear facilities first.

I just seen the latest news on CNN. The President of Pakistan is saying that everyone is fools for acting like there going to use nukes and that nobody should even be discussing the subject.

Oh boy, we all can sleep better now, eh?
