Peyote buttons?

A friend of mine in Canada Bought some L.williamsii seeds from a place in the UK.
They are suppose to be L.williamsii and not L.diffusa..How can you tell the difference in these 1.5 year old buttons? He bought them from a cactus seed supplier (Rowlands) They are all the same species...but how can he tell which,diffusa or williamsii?

nice baby buttons...
looks like your friend got a L. williamsii ver. caespitosa.
btw is too early to see differences between the 2 species.

Just guessing... the big one is Difusa the rest not.
I see resemblens with things I see daily.
But just a guess.

I'd tell my friend to grow mushrooms so they don't have to wait 5 years to trip.
