Ok, Yesterday I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. I went to work and barely made it through the night.
I get home and think, FOR SURE I will be able to just pass out.
WRONG.
well, I lay for awhile just letting my mind wander and tried to wind down and what not. well that didnt work.
I got up and took some velarian root and 2 sleep aid pills.
Layed for another hour or so and still felt just as awake and just as awair of everything.
So then I got up made some "Sleepy time" tea and sipped on that.
Layed back down.
Repeated step A and got back up. This time taking a bunch more Velarian root and some passion flower.
Once again, not even a feeling of my mind slowing down. So I get up and smoke a bowl. Put on some shpongle and attempted to meditate.
laid down for about another half hour got very frusterated and here I am.
any ideas?

Maybe your not as tired as you thought you were?
When I can't sleep, I don't fight it, I just get out of bed and do something productive until I feel exhausted. Then I try again.
If you rely on things to get you to sleep (e.g., valerian, sleeping pills), your only making the problem worse for yourself.
Instead, make sure you exercise for at least 30 minutes a day, wait until exhausted, pound your pud, and hit the hay.

Sounds funny, but as I very often get, you are too tired to sleep.

Thank the creator for my wife. If she sees I havent been asleep for a couple days, she MAKES me strip, lay in bed, while she "puts" me to sleep, lol. Sad thing is, I take benzos 3 times a day.

For me to fall asleep, unless Im exhausted I need to throw my headphones on and listen to a CD. I either fall asleep with them on or I take them off when I feel tired enough to fall asleep. It works quite well IMO.

If I can't get to sleep, it helps to just stay up and smoke pot until I get completely exhausted from it. This also helps you get to sleep by distracting your attention away from your frustration at your inability to get to sleep.

Like already mentioned, dont fight it! If youve been in bed for over half hour to an hours and you get that feeling telling you you wont sleep, get up.
And something which have helped me in the past: - Constant time of waking up (set a loud alarm) and constant time at trying to sleep. - Make a routine of what you do just before bed (my mom for example reads. Once she opens her book her body recognizes the routine and automatically begins to get sleepy) - Not eating proccessed sugars (go bio, homecooked) - Plenty of water during the day - Some sort of exercise during the day - Dont exercise during the last three to four hours before bed - Turn all your lights down low during the last hour before bed - Relax! Leave all your toubles out of bed, once you lay down, stop thinking about anything and everything.

I've found that the kind of sleep I get after smoking pot is much less energizing and refreshing than natural sleep. It's almost as if I didn't get any sleep at all.

I agree. Smoking right before bed leaves me a LOT less refreshed in the morning. (and gives me dry mouth and general discomfort)

hey dude havent you noticed that when you try to force yourself to sleep it doesnt work. maybe you didnt get sufficent exercise? maybe your heart wasnt content. you should maybe sing alot. its good for the heart. probably everyones experienced the same thing before. i used to get it all the time when i was younger. maybe you are not embracing (or maybe your denying) somethings you care about.
good luck

I've never had that problem, although I do agree with other posters about the loss of memory of dreams. I feel just as refreshed waking up after a night of cannabis use as I would sober, but I also tend to use it a lot, so perhaps my body's simply adapted to it in ways that casual users have not.
It definitely helps to exhaust me faster late at night, however, which is why I find it so useful to use it to get to sleep as I would not become exhausted so quickly sober.

You could try some white noise. Turn on a fan or something. If that doesnt work my guess is you just wanted to sleep so badly that when it happened you realised you wernt really as tired as you thought you were.

It happens to me too, when I don't smoke weed during day. But not always, sometimes when I don't smoke I get longer and deeper sleep, but sometimes I don't get any sleep at all. When that happens I usually stay up all night watching family guy. I try to avoid taking any pills for sleep but I have a friend who used to be addicted to xanax for 1.5 years, eating every day 1-5 pills (sometimes up to 10 pills). Now he stopped taking those pills and now has to take 1 seroquel and 1 rivotril at once to get any sleep. So I've bought couple of seroquels from him. And when I really need to sleep (having something important to do next day) I take 1/4 of 1 seroquel and it knocks me out for 10-15 hours.
